Sleep:
Sleep never has been a strong point for little Claire. It is probably mostly my fault. Because I wake up so early to teach piano lessons I get a little bit lazy when it comes to getting Claire back to sleep if she wakes up in the middle of the night. On occasion, I will just have her come sleep in our bed so we can both continue sleeping, plus I love the cuddles. I am afraid it has made a bad habit. We are working on having her soothe herself a little more and it is so hard! We have tried having her "cry it out" a couple nights and it is a little bit torturous. I think we are making some good progress though because lately she is just waking up maybe once a night but not needing to eat. I usually just give her her binky and she goes back to sleep. I hope this continues!

Diet:
Up until the middle of this month Claire was nursing a couple times a day and taking a bottle to supplement all other feedings. The nursing slowly started to dwindle and be less and less often. I felt like my supply just couldn't keep up and she was getting really frustrated eating on me. She bit me a couple of times out of frustration and I decided it might be time to stop. I was sad because I loved breastfeeding and the uninterrupted bonding time but I also realized it was causing me a lot of stress on me. With the schedule I have it just isn't realistic to feed her and pump. I'm so thankful for the almost six months I had to nurse little Claire!
This month we also started Claire on a couple of new foods. She has tried rice cereal, apples, pears and sweet potatoes. She doesn't love any of it and doesn't really give it a whole lot of attention which is funny because she stares at other peoples food all the time. We have also given her bottles with a little bit of water and juice as well. Lately she has even had to have some prune juice mixed in with her formula because she has had some digestive issues.
Health:
This month Claire braved her very first head cold. It started with a little dry cough that progressively got much more wet and icky! I took her in to the doctor and they called it a viral brochilitis. It was icky. She was pretty miserable with lots of snot and a cough that would constantly wake her up! We did get to try out the nose Frida which was. . . actually really satisfying to use. Very efficient!
This month Claire has also had some pretty yucky digestive issues. She has been quite constipated going 5+ days without a poop. I think this is just a side effect of her not nursing anymore. I'm hoping to get it figured out because it is just the saddest thing to watch her push and push with no luck.
